Philosophy workshop: "What is work? "

Wednesday, January 17, 2024 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM · 1 hr. (Europe/Paris)

Information

"Work is commonly understood to mean any human activity aimed at producing goods or services. But this very broad definition leaves a number of pending questions. Should any manual or intellectual activity be considered work? Can work be done alone, or is it always a team activity? Does voluntary work fall into the category of work? Does work have to be useful to be work? Another criterion that helps to define the nature of work is that of effort: does "real" work always require effort? But then, what happens if we enjoy working? As we can see, the notion of work cannot be imprisoned in a precise and definitive definition, so it is a question of nuance and of considering the different forms of work, which, moreover, evolve over time". (Source: Phileas and Autobule, Dur dur de travailler?) The aim of this philosophy workshop is to question the views of work held by students close to employment and employers, and to provide them with a framework for discussing the different opinions about work in order to foster dialogue and understanding between these two players in the plant industry.
