Apple: Improving environmental efficiency from orchard to shelf
Information
In a context of energy transition, ANPP, Blue Whale, Pink Lady® Europe and AFIDEM have run the Peren project, with partial funding from ADEME (Greengo). The goal was to identify and study ways to improve the environmental performance of apples throughout the entire production and marketing chain. Leads identified were assessed from a technical, economic and environmental standpoint, using life cycle analysis. Findings will be presented in a concise form, from the orchards through to post-harvest right down to the logistics/sales channel. An update will also be provided on the benefits of “low carbon” apple production.
