Organic dried vegetables: proteins to be encouraged for a developing market

Organic dried vegetables: proteins to be encouraged for a developing market

Information

Beyond their agronomic interest, pulses such as chickpeas, lentils, whites beans or split peas are known for their interesting nutritional characteristics. Today, 47% of the national surface area of pulses are cultivated according to the organic production method and their production continues to grow (+14% in 2020 vs 2019*). Their development is all the more important as it meets the challenges of food and diversification of protein sources, particularly in the regulatory framework of the Egalim Law (Law for balanced trade relations in agriculture) and the Climate and Resilience Law. Producers, distributors and development structures will testify for this organic pulse sector which is being collectively structured so as to relocate the vegetable protein market in the western part of France.
